Day 1: Cochin-Houseboat (L/D)
This morning you will be picked up from Cochin & transferred to the pier for boarding Kerala rice houseboat. A houseboat cruise is the best way to explore the beauty of the backwaters; sit back and relax while the boat cruises through the narrow serene backwater canals that take you through nearby villages. Arrival transfer to your hotel and later visit a local house for a traditional cooking class and dinner with an Indian family.
 
Day 2: Delhi (B/D)
Cross the city into the walled gates of Old Delhi, visiting Jama Mosque (1650) and drive through the fabled area of Chandni Chowk. Then we drive past the Red Fort (1639-1648) built by Shahjehan, the builder of the Taj Mahal in Agra. Later visit Raj Ghat to pay homage to Father of the Indian Nation – Mahatma Gandhi.
In the afternoon, proceed on a tour of New Delhi visiting the Qutub Minar. Drive through the Embassy area, Connaught Place, the heart and main shopping district of the capital. Continue to Humayun’s tomb, also known as the forerunner to the Taj Mahal.

Day 3: Delhi (B/D)
Delhi city food tour starts with a visit to the old towns market place, shop and mingle with locals, walk through streets to sample the famous street food of Delhi and taste some popular delights like Aloo Tikki, Samosa & jalebi along with traditional Indian chai. This will be followed by lip-smacking array of succulent Kebabs, Korma, butter chicken and luscious rice ending with a dessert of kulfi. Continue your walking tour around the narrow lanes of the old city to sample more local delicacies.

Day 1: Arrive Varanasi
Arrive in Varanasi. Visit the Ghats to see the Aarti ceremony. As the sun starts to set, the temple priests perform Aarti, the sacred light ceremony, on the banks of River Ganges.
 
Day 2: Varanasi (B)
At sunrise, when the temples are bathed in soft light, we board our small boat for a cruise on the Ganges. From our boat we witness the everyday life in the holiest of cities, as people arrive at the Ghats at dawn to take a ritual dip, perform yoga asanas, wash clothes and offer flowers and incense to the holy river. We see devotees performing their daily religious rites. At stone steps on the river’s edge, we join the locals in a feeling of pilgrimage: for them, the heart of their faith, for us, a superlative cultural experience. We then continue our guided walking tour of the innermost part of Varanasi, including one ashram, before returning to our hotel for breakfast.
Varanasi is a rich weaving centre and has been so for 1500 years. It is also India’s most sacred city and, in many ways, the most exotic and beautiful. It is famous for many different techniques of silk brocade weaving.
This afternoon, visit Badi Bazar which specialises in silk weaving and brocading. You can see the weavers at work, weaving Zari-brocades where pure gold and silver thread into silk fabric. Delicate floral and architectural patterns are hand woven with detailed multi-coloured thread that makes Varanasi silk absolutely unique. Also visit stores popular for Banarsi silk.
 
Day 3: Varanasi (B)
This morning, we drive to the nearby ancient Buddhist learning center of Sarnath.  Here, Gautama Buddha preached his first sermon to his disciples, as portrayed in Bernardo Bertolucci’s film Little Buddha. We then visit the Sarnath Museum, which houses some of the greatest treasures of Indian Buddhist art, including Ashoka’s Lion Capital—the National Emblem of India—and the beautiful Teaching Buddha, among the most beautiful sculptures in the world.
Afternoon is at leisure. 
 
Day 4: Varanasi (B)

Morning city takes you to the world famous Golden Temple, spiritual and cultural centre for Sikh religion. The peaceful and serene ambience of the Golden Temple contrasts sharply with the disturbing sight of the bullet holes in Jallianwalah Bagh, which is where General Dyer conducted the infamous massacre in 1919 on a peaceful congregation of Indian independence movement. This afternoon, you will be taken to witness Change of Guards. Some distance from Amritsar lays the Wagah border- a ceremonial outpost on the India – Pakistan border. Every evening, at sundown, soldiers of both countries put up a change of guard ceremony in which they bring down the national flags of their respective countries and briefly shake hands.
