Day 1: Bangkok – Mekhala on the River (D) 
Pick up at your hotel in Bangkok and transfer to the embarkation pier. Board the Mekhala, 13:30 hrs commence the cruise from Bangkok by the “Legendary River Cruiser Mekhala”, cruising up the Chao Phraya River with spectacular views of the Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn. Arriving at Pathum Thani in the afternoon, you will visit a fresh market where local people shop for food, fresh produce and a variety of Thai sweets. At sunset, the Mekhala docks at Wat Kai Tia, a temple set in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelight dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine is served on the deck. Overnight on board in your air-conditioned cabin.
 
Day 2: Mekhala on the River – Bangkok (B, L)
The day starts with a cruise to the small village of Baan Saladang, an old Mon community who migrated from Burma to this area in the early 19th century. The villagers here have successfully maintained their traditional life style, customs and natural surroundings. You will also see a collection of well-preserved typical Thai houses in this charming village. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious breakfast. At around 11:00hrs, you will disembark and travel to Bang-Pa-In, where you will visit King Rama V’s Summer Palace, which represents a fine example of Thai architecture. Continue by long-tail boat to the ancient capital of Ayuthaya. After lunch at local restaurant, visit the idyllic ruins of the once glorious capital destroyed by the Burmese. Late afternoon transfer back to your hotel in Bangkok by air-conditioned minibus.
