Day 02: Bangkok (B)
This tour includes three of the most unusual Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Wat Traimit is also known as the temple of the Golden Buddha. The 3 meter tall statue is made from solid gold and weighs 5.5 tons and is a fine example of Sukhothai style art. You will then pass through Chinatown on your way to Wat Pho, the temple of the Reclining Buddha and home to the Chedis of the Kings. At 46 meters in length and 15 meters high the Buddha is the largest in Bangkok and illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court.  It used to be the residence of the Kings of Bangkok.  Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and Wat Phra Keo, the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple. To round off the tour, we call in at a local lapidary factory and showroom where you will be able to get locally made jewellery, handicrafts and silk at competitive prices.

Note: The Grand Palace is closed during special royal ceremonies and during visiting heads of state.

Day 03: Bangkok (B/L)
When you think of Thailand, the unique Floating Market is one of the first images that springs to mind. Come & see the most authentic of the floating markets at Damnoen Saduak, to the south west of the city with an afternoon of insight into Thai culture at the Rose Garden.  You’ll have an exciting long tail boat ride along the nearby canals to the site of the market, where you will find the locals selling everything possibly imaginable from their boats.  Plenty of shopping bargains to be found.  Unfortunately, the market is now somewhat over-commercialized. Then it’s onto the Rose Garden, a beautiful resort area, where lunch is taken. After lunch you will have time to wander round the gardens & the recreated Thai village with lots of interesting & varied handicrafts on display, but make your way to the auditorium in good time to get a good seat for the excellent cultural show. The show gives you an idea of many aspects of the Thai way of life: Thai dancing, wedding and monk ordination ceremonies, kick boxing, sword & long pole fighting, cock fighting, fingernail dancing.

Day 04: Bangkok (B/L)
Pick up from major hotels in Bangkok downtown area at approx. 6:00-6:30.  Depart to Kanchanaburi province (128 km. to the west of Bangkok) Visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre - an interactive museum, with information and research facilities, dedicated to present the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway. The fully air-conditioned center offers the visitor an educational and moving experience. Continue to visit the Allied War Cemetery, which is a memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war (POWs) who perished along the death railway line and were moved post-war to this eternal resting place. Enjoy a scenic long-tailed boat trip along Maeklong River to the world famous Bridge over the River Kwai, a part of Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards take a trip on the historic Death Railway Train, passing over the original wooden viaduct constructed by Allied POWs. Journey back to Bangkok. Arrive at Bangkok and transfer to hotels.
