Kota Kinabalu – Selingan Turtle Island - Sukau– Lahad Datu - Kota Kinabalu
Immerse yourself in nature on this 8 day tour of Sabah. Learn about the world’s largest flower and it’s smallest bear, watch the turtles lay their eggs and semi-wild orangutans feeding before travelling deep into the rainforest for river cruises and night safaris in search of more wildlife. Trek to Lipad’s mud volcano & waterfall, a true nature lover’s holiday
Day 1: Kota Kinabalu
Arrive at airport, meet and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Kota Kinabalu (B/L)
Depart from Kota Kinabalu to the Rafflesia Information Centre and learn about the world’s largest flower. After lunch take a short hike to Mahua Waterfall and enjoy a swim or hike to enjoy more of the jungle
Day 3: Sandakan - Selingan Turtle Island (B/L/D)
Transfer to airport for flight to Sandakan and take boat to Selingan Island. Free time to explore, swim and snorkel. After dinner, watch the Green Turtles lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and release of baby turtles to the sea.
Day 5: Sandakan – Sepilok - Sukau (B/L/D)
Return to Sandakan by boat. Proceed to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk through the rainforest to witness the feeding of the orangutans and visit the nursery area. Visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre. After lunch, transfer by boat to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Take a cruise on Kinabatangan River in search of wildlife and birds.
Day 6: Sukau (B/L/D)
Early morning take a cruise on Kinabatangan River in search of wildlife and birds. Proceed for an educational tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with our in-house naturalist and join our in house Orangutan talk. Afternoon river cruise to spot more wildlife
Day 7: Lahad Datu (B/L/D)
Morning depart for Lahad Datu and Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Afternoon trek to the Lipad mud volcano. After dinner presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds.
Day 8: Lahad Datu (B/L/D)
Early morning bird walk, followed by a visit to bird watching tower and trek to Lipad's Waterfall. Evening dusk drive and later look out for nocturnal wildlife along the trail nearby the resort.
Day 9: Lahad Datu – Kota Kinabalu (B/L)
Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for flight to Kota Kinabalu
Private program - can start any day of the week and can be modified or operated in reverse
