Kota Kinabalu - Poring Spring - Sandakan - Sepilok Orang Utan - Kinabatangan River - Sukau - Lahad Datu
Day 1 : Arrive Kota Kinabalu
Arrive Kota Kinabalu airport, meet and transfer to your 5* hotel for check in.
Day 2 : Countryside Quad Biking (B)
Pickup from your hotel and a scenic drive approximately 1.5hours to the set-off point, stopping midway for photos of the scenic landscape. A safety briefing is held upon arrival before a practice run and then we’re off. Embark on a two-hour guided scenic quad bike adventure, passing through several villages and beyond with views of the paddy fields, plantations, jungle and the Kiulu River. Thereafter, return to Kota Kinabalu and transfer to hotel. Spend the afternoon free at leisure.
Day 3 : Kinabalu Park - Poring Hot Spring (B/L)
We start our day with an early morning pickup from your hotel before driving 2 hours overland to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu at 5000ft. A brief stop at roadside stalls at Nabalu market where we'll browse local fruits in season and assorted handicrafts. A great place to take panorama photos of Mount Kinabalu before continuing our journey on towards Poring Hot Springs. Upon your arrival, you'll be briefed by your guide with two options, either accompany the guide on a nature walk (550m) up to the canopy walkway or decide to have a dip in the Hot sulphur spring baths. After lunch, proceed to Kinabalu Park. Visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden and if the weather permits, take a short stroll on one of the many nature trails. Depart Kinabalu Park for our journey home, back to your hotel.
Day 4 : Sandakan - Sepilok Orang Utan - Kinabatangan River - Sukau (B/L/D)
Early morning, transfer to airport for flight to Sandakan. Upon arrival at Sandakan airport, meet and transfer to to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. We proceed to watch a video show about the plight of the Orang Utans and the rehabilitation efforts ongoing at the Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans and then we continue to the newly completed enclosed nursery area for young orang utans. After visit the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about conservation of the world’s smallest bear. After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey along the Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. Take a river cruise in search of wildlife and birds. Enjoy candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide presentation and interpretation by naturalist guide. Check into Sukau Rainforest Lodge.
Day 5 : Wildlife Cruise Sukau (B/L/D)
Take an early morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with our in-house naturalist. After lunch, join our in house Orang Utan Talk activity. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.
Day 6 : Sukau - Lahad Datu (B/L/D)
After breakfast, proceed 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu. Drive 83km to the award winning nature lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Explore nature trail and nearby river. In the evening a slide show and if weather permits we go spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals. Check inot your hotel.
Day 7 : Lahad Datu (B/L/D)
Early morning birdwalk before breakfast. Spend the whole day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to waterfall for refreshing dip in rock pools. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, explore more trails leading to canopy walkway.
Day 8 : Lahad Datu - Departure (B/L)
Morning trek in search of mammals and birds. Return to the lodge before departing for Lahad Datu. Take the afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu
