Day 1: Vientiane- Pakse-Wat Phu-Don Khong
Transfer to Vientiane’s airport for the flight to Pakse. On arrival, we drive on the National Road No. 13th south to Champassak to visit the temple ruins of Wat Phu, dated from the 5th and 6th centuries, predating Angkor Wat by over 200 years. Originally built as a shrine to Shiva, the temple is thought to have been linked to Angkor by a 100 km road marked with stones. After lunch we drive to Khong Island, on the way stop to visit the villages of ban Phone Saat.
OVERNIGHT IN KHONG ISLAND.

Day 2 Don Khong – Si Phan Done – Don Khone
After breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour cruise down into the widest reach of the Mekong River from where thousands of islets just out in dry season, giving this area a lovely name ”Si Phan Done – means Four thousand islands”. Along the way, stop to visit the Liphi waterfalls and spend rest of the day to explore the fisherman village of Ban Done Khone, where the old French colonial buildings and its retrace the old colonial past with seeing the first Lao railway with its locomotive. Optional board on small boat down Mekong River to see Irrawaddy dolphins (by chance, take 1hrs boat up & down).

Day 3 Don Khone – Khone Phapeng – Pakse
Morning cross the Mekong River and car drive down to Cambodia border to visit the famous waterfalls of Khone Phapeng, South East Asia’s biggest waterfalls. Afternoon return to Pakse.

Day 4 Pakse departure
Morning free until transfer to the airport for departure flight.
