Excurtion of the day - City tour of Cochem including visit to Reichsburg
 
From our pier in Wiesbaden we take the bus to the city of Eltville to visit the Abbey Eberbach. Enjoy the scenery while driving through one of the smallest wine growing regions in Germany, but “small” is a size of 252 hectare in total.
The former Cistercian abbey was founded in 1136 by Bernhard von Clairvaux. In the Middle Ages, the monks were well known for their wine trade, which was the most successful wine trade in the world. Even today you can examine the twelve historic wine presses. There are many more stations waiting to be discovered in the monastery, such as the 80 m long monastery basilica or the monk's dormitory which is still used for events today.
The impressive landmark lies on the top edge of the vineyards in the Rheingau and is one of the most important monuments of Europe.
Take a walk through the beautiful grounds of the monastery and enjoy the view.

Excurtion of the day - City tour of Trier / Porta Nigra 

Trier was built more than 2000 years ago and ensured itself the title oldest city in Germany, as already the romans accepted Trier as a city. Surely the most important sight of the city is the „Porta Nigra“ (latin for „Black Gate“). It belongs to the UNESCO world heritage since 1986. From 170 AD. the romans built this sight that we know today and is still the best-preserved roman city gate within Germany. Trier has many more roman monuments, as for example the Barbara thermal bath, the Konstantin basilica or the amphitheater that also belong to the UNESCO world heritage. This city has a rich historic background and many interesting places to discover, enjoy your day exploring Trier.
