Experience the vast landscapes and nomadic culture of Mongolia on this unforgettable journey through its most iconic regions. Beginning in Ulaanbaatar, the adventure heads west to the rolling sand dunes of Elsen Tasarkhai, where desert meets grassland in a stunning contrast of landscapes.

Continue to the historic town of Karakorum, once the capital of Genghis Khan’s empire and home to the revered Erdene Zuu Monastery, Mongolia’s oldest surviving Buddhist monastery. The journey then leads to Hustai National Park, where you may encounter the rare and iconic Przewalski’s horse roaming freely across the steppe.

After returning briefly to Ulaanbaatar, travel north to Murun, gateway to the pristine wilderness of northern Mongolia. The journey culminates at breathtaking Lake Khövsgöl, often called the “Blue Pearl of Mongolia,” where crystal-clear waters meet forested mountains and traditional reindeer herder culture thrives.

This route blends Mongolia’s rich history, diverse landscapes, and authentic nomadic life, offering travelers a remarkable exploration from desert dunes to alpine lakes.

Itinerary

Day 1

Ulaanbaatar (D)

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, meet at the airport after custom formalities and transfer to your hotel (standard check-in time is 2 pm). The remainder of the day is free for you to get over jet lag and take a good rest before your wonderful journey across Mongolia. Welcome dinner at local restaurant.

Day 2

Ulaanbaatar – Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune (B/L/D)

Today drive to Elsen tasarkhai (Bayan gobi) through the steppe, arrive at the stunning sand dunes and extend about 80 km., streams, and picturesque mountains. Upon arrival, we will check in to the ger camp and have lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the historic Erdene Khamba Monastery and enjoy a scenic hike through the stunning Khugnu Khan Mountains, where steppe, desert, and pasture converge in a landscape rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Enjoy 1 hour camel ride through the sand dunes. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3

Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune – Karakorum (B/L/D)

Drive to the ancient capital Karakorum. We visit legendary monastery Erdene Zuu, the first Buddhist monastery in Central Mongolia founded in 1586. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Museum of Karakorum and the UNESCO world heritage site Orkhon river valley. Afterwards, a short drive to Melkhii Tolgoi hill marking the boundary of the ancient capital and enjoy the scenic view of historical Orkhon Valley.

Day 4

Karakorum (B/L/D)

This morning, visit the newly established Erdenesiin Khuree calligraphy gallery to learn about Mongolian calligraphy art. After lunch, visit nomadic family ger in the area where we see how dairy to be produced by nomads, We will have ger demonstration at the family. For dinner, you'll join the nomadic family to prepare and enjoy a traditional Mongolian dish, buuz (steamed dumplings), while engaging in conversation. Day 5

Karakorum – Hustai National Park (B/L/D)

Today we drive back to Hustai National Park. Upon reaching Hustai, we'll venture into the park, keeping our eyes peeled for sightings of the Takhi wild horses peacefully grazing in their natural habitat, alongside other fascinating wildlife. Following our exploration, we'll proceed to the ger camp, where a satisfying dinner awaits, capping off the day with a restful overnight stay.

Day 6

Ulaanbaatar – Murun – Lake Huvsgul (B/L/D)

Today drive to the airport for catching a flight to Murun town. Upon arrival at Murun town, we will go to Lake Huvsgul covers slightly more than 150 kilometers, The road can get bumpy as it passes the settlement of Khatgal and enters the forests surrounding the lake, before emerging on the banks of Lake Huvsgul itself with your ger camp close at hand. Remainder of the day at leisure on Lake Huvsgul.

Day 7

Lake Huvsgul (B/L/D)

After breakfast, enjoy a one-hour horse ride along the lakeshore. The rest of the day will be spent engaging in leisure activities and exploring Lake Khuvsgul and its scenic surroundings. In the evening, you will visit a local shaman for an insightful cultural experience.

Day 8

Lake Khuvsgul – Murun – Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)

After lunch at the camp, we drive to Murun town. On the way, we’ll stop to visit the UushgiinUvur Deer Stones, Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Murun. Afterwards, we will board a flight to Ulaanbaatar, which takes approximately one hour. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 9

Tour and Giant Chinggis statue (B/L)

Today we visit at Gandan Monastery, Next, we will drive to the Giant Genghis statue complex and explore its surroundings. Afterwards drive back to Ulaanbaatar and visit Sukhbaatar Square, Chinggis Khaan museum.As the day draws to a close, immerse yourself in Mongolia's rich cultural heritage with a traditional folklore concert. Free time for dinner.

Day 10

Ulaanbaatar (B)

Today you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight
