A journey through Mongolia’s heartland weaves together vast степpe landscapes, ancient history, and striking natural wonders. Beginning in Ulaanbaatar, the country’s vibrant capital, the tour quickly transitions into the wild at Khustai National Park, home to the rare Przewalski’s horse and rolling grasslands teeming with wildlife. From there, the route leads to Karakorum, where the legacy of Genghis Khan still echoes among the ruins and monasteries.
Continuing south, the serene remnants of Ongi Monastery offer a glimpse into Mongolia’s spiritual past before the landscape transforms into the dramatic desert of the Gobi. At Bayanzag, glowing red cliffs reveal dinosaur fossil sites, while the towering sands of Khongor Sand Dunes—known as the “Singing Dunes”—rise in golden waves against the horizon.
The adventure continues through the cool, shaded canyon of Yoliin Am, where ice can linger even in summer, before reaching the striking white limestone formations of Tsagaan Suvarga, sculpted by wind and time. The circuit concludes back in Ulaanbaatar, leaving travelers with a deep appreciation for Mongolia’s nomadic culture, dramatic contrasts, and untouched beauty.

Today journey toKhustai National Park, check into your accommodation and enjoy lunch which will be followed by a Nomadic show, afternoon, embark on a guided wildlife tour through the park. Return to our accommodation in the evening for a restful evening.

Today travel to Karakorum (300 km., 4-5 hours) Visit Erdenezuu Monastery. Later visit Karakorum Museum Accommodation in a camp with yurts - the yurts are for two people with two beds, and the sanitary facilities are common to the camp.

A journey to the heart of the desert, where we will have the opportunity to touch the lifestyle of the nomads. After that you will continue to the ruins of Ongi Monastery (230 km). The Ongi Monastery Ruins are the preserved remains of a Buddhist monastery dating back to 1760. One of the largest monasteries in Mongolia ever, Ongi was destroyed during the political repressions of 1937. In the local museum in a yurt, we will look at the surviving artifacts from the monastery.

Today you will continue to Bayanzag (170 km.) - the incredible "Flaming Cliffs". On the way we drive along the "highway of the Gobi Desert" in Ongi steppe Many dinosaurs remain have been found at this site, such as dinosaur eggs and Protoceratops. The American zoologist Roy Chapman Andrews discovered the area and called it "Flaming Cliffs". The red-colored rocks themselves are very impressive from a distance and especially glow in the light of the setting sun.

Journey to the Khongor sand dunes (150 km.). The dunes are in the valley of Baruun Saikhan, Sevrei and Zuulun mountains. The Khongor sand dunes are the second largest and one of the most impressive sand dunes in Mongolia, The largest dunes are at the northwest end of the range. There is an oasis along the Khongor River in the northern part of the dunes. We will also visit a local family in the area where you`ll be able to witness their daily life and try riding a two humped camel if you wish (not on the sand dunes).

Journey to Yolin Am (190 km), on the way – lunch in tourist camp or Bayandalai. Yolin Am ("Yol" in Mongolian means "Lammergeier") is a deep, narrow gorge that starts from Mount Zuun Saikhan, part of the Gurvan Saikhan mountain range, extending for 10 kilometers in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, At the entrance to the national park, there is a small nature museum where you can see a collection of dinosaur eggs and bones, stuffed birds and a white leopard. The beauty of the gorge, combined with the scent of juniper, creates an atmosphere of awe and wonder and is an experience not to be missed.

Departure to Tsagaan Suvarga "White Stupa" (200 km. - 4 hours). Exploring the White Stupa and walking around. The cliffs are 400 meters long and look like an ancient ghost town from afar. This is the best photo spot with beautiful panoramic views and a good location for a rest and overnight stop on the way from the middle to the south of the Gobi Desert.
Day 9
Tsagaan Suvarga – Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)

Departure to Ulaanbaatar with a spot at Mandalgovi town. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon and transfer to the hotel for refresh. Conclude your tour with a traditional folklore concert at Tumen Ekh ensemble or similar followed by dinner.
