Itinerary

Day 1

Cairo - Alexandria

Your journey begins early in the morning with a transfer from Cairo to Alexandria by private car. The drive takes approximately three hours and offers scenic views of the Nile Delta and rural Egypt along the way. Upon arrival in Alexandria, you’ll dive straight into its rich Greco-Roman heritage, beginning with a visit to the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. This underground necropolis, carved out of rock in the 2nd century AD, uniquely blends Pharaonic, Greek, and Roman architectural styles, making it one of the most intriguing burial sites in Egypt.

Next, you’ll visit Pompey’s Pillar, a massive Roman triumphal column standing nearly 30 meters tall. It is one of the few ancient structures still standing in Alexandria and is located on the grounds of the once-magnificent Serapeum temple, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Roman Egypt.

In the afternoon, your tour continues with a visit to the 15th-century Qaitbay Citadel. Built on the exact site of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—the fortress provides panoramic views of the sea and stands as a symbol of Alexandria’s maritime history.

The day concludes at the stunning Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a modern tribute to the ancient Library of Alexandria. This architectural marvel houses millions of books and features museums, art galleries, and a planetarium, offering both cultural and intellectual enrichment.

In the evening, you'll check in to your hotel in Alexandria. You’re free to enjoy a sunset walk along the Corniche, savor local delicacies, or simply relax and soak in the coastal ambiance before turning in for the night.

Day 2

Alexandria - Cairo (B)

After breakfast, you’ll begin your return journey to Cairo for a historical detour through El Alamein, a significant World War II battlefield site located along the Mediterranean coast. Your first stop will be the El Alamein War Museum. Here, you’ll learn about the pivotal battles that took place in the desert and view military artifacts from the Allied and Axis forces. You may also visit the Commonwealth and German war cemeteries—peaceful and well-maintained sites that commemorate the thousands who lost their lives in the region.

Continuing the journey, you’ll arrive back in Cairo in the afternoon.
