Itinerary

Day 1

Chiang Mai

Arrive in Chiang Mai. Pick up at 13:30 and proceed to visit Wat Suan Dok. There are several unique features to this temple that you won't see in just about any other wat around Chiang Mai, or even elsewhere in Thailand. Then visit to the most interesting temples (Wat Chiang Man), The oldest temple in Chiang Mai town was built in 1296 by King Mengrai of Lanna kingdom. The temple is famous for its Lanna-style chedi supported by rows of elephant shaped buttresses. Continue to Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang “The temple of the Great Stupa” located in the ancient walled part of the city. Proceed to visit Wat Jet Yod, is an old temple in Chiang Mai with some very unique architecture. Wat Jed Yod is probably one of the least visited major temples. Drop off at the Hotel.

Day 2

Doi Suthep – Sankampaeng Village (B/L)

Morning, drive up the serpentine road to the magnificently situated Wat Doi Suthep. Perched atop a forested mountain with sweeping views of the city below, this most sacred of Chiang Mai’s temples (3,280 ft.) houses a wealth of Buddha images, murals and Buddhist art. Climb the 306 stepped Naga staircase to reach the temple.
Lunch at the local restaurant.
After lunch, drive to Sankamphaeng district visit Handicraft Village has long been the heart of this industry. Thailand is world famous for its pure silk and Chiang Mai produces some of the very finest. Here you can find hand-woven silk, ethnic textiles, umbrella making, silverware, wood carving and products made by skilled craftsmen, who produce standards of excellence in decorative items and furniture. Return to hotel.

Day 3

Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai (B/L)

Morning free at your leisure. Drive to Chiang Dao on the way stop at the local restaurant for lunch. Continue drive to Thatorn and board a simple long-tail motorboat down the Kok River to Baan Phatai, passing through the beautiful view on the riverbank.
Arrive at Phatai boat landing and continue by car to Chiang Rai city area and check in at hotel.

Day 4

Chiang Rai – Doi Mae Salong - Departure (B)

Explore the mountainous area of Mae Salong (Santikhiri), which was originally settled by the renegade KMT 93rd regiment that fled to Myanmar from China in 1949. The mountain is also home to numerous hill tribe settlements. Near the peak of the mountain visitors will find several tea plantations as well as tea houses. Continue to the northern-most point of Thailand at the Thai Burmese border and visit the border town Mae Sai. Continue to Chiang Saen is a charming town on the Mekong River. The Chiang Saen ancient city consists of temple ruins, old city walls and a moat.
Transfer drop off at Chiang Rai Airport.
