Itinerary

Day 1

Muscat

Arrival into Muscat Airport, meet and transfer to the Hotel in Muscat for your overnight stay.
 

Day 2

Muscat (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Am at leisure.

1500 hrs:  Drive through the elegant residential Shatti Al Qurum Area. Continue for a photostop of the magnificent Al Alam Palace, residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts, Mirani & Jalali. Visit the Bait Al Baranda a new interactive museum
Also stop at the colorful Muttrah Souq.

Day 3

Muscat - Mussanah (B/D)

0830 hrs: Our tour of the Grand Mosque. (Ladies fully covered with scarf and shorts not allowed for men).  Proceed to the Seeb Fish Souq located by the seaside.  Later drive through the date palms  and stop at the Nakhl  springs and enjoy a walk through the village with its date palms and Falaj system.. At the springs one can observe the local folk.  Visit the Nakhl fort perched on a rocky outcrop.

Day 4

Mussanah - Nizwa ( B)

0830 hrs:  Depart in the direction of Nizwa visiting enroute the Amouage Perfumery.  Now, in its 26th year, the House of Amouage creates some of the most expensive perfumes in the world for both men and women.
1000 hrs  Depart for Nizwa visiting Birkat Al Mauz village via Fanja.
Check-in at Hotel in Nizwa  

1500 hrs: Depart for the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century.   Explore the village and the neighbouring Souq, popular for its intricately hand-carved" khanjars" (daggers) &   ornamental silver jewellery.

Day 5

Nizwa - Muscat (B)

0800 hrs: Enroute to Jabrin , have a photo stop at the Bahla Fort which has been declared as a World Heritage site.  Jabrin, the finest of Oman's castles built in the late 17th century, became a seat of Omani learning. The castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting & beautifully executed woodcarvings.  Proceed to the charming Al Hamra village positioned on the slopes of the mountains. Visit the Bait Safah museum.   Visit the ruins of a village at Tanuf before returning to Muscat
1400 hrs: Drive from Nizwa to Muscat.

Day 6

Muscat (B)

0800 hrs:  Depart by  4WD  vehicles to the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand and dunes rising up to 200 metres are also host to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographers delight. Visit a Bedouin house in this wilderness. In stark contrast to this is Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water.  Enjoy a picnic lunch here. (It is advisable to wear light comfortable clothing and walking shoes).

Day 7

Departure Muscat

Breakfast. 1200 hrs: Checkout of Crowne Plaza Muscat/ Ramee Guest. Transfer to the Muscat International Airport for your flight back home.
