Itinerary

Day 1

Vientiane

Arrive in the morning at Vientiane Airport and transfer to hotel. Proceed on an afternoon city tour including Wat Simuang, Vientiane’s most sacred site and the religious museum at Wat Sisaket. The tour includes a stop at Wat Pra Keo, original home of the Emerald Buddha that now resides in Bangkok, the 16th century That Luang Golden Stupa and the Patuxai Victory Gate. The day ends watching sunset on the banks of the Mekong River.

Day 2

Vientiane-Luang Prabang-Khuang Si Falls (B)

You will be transferred this morning to the airport for a domestic flight to Luang Prabang. Arrive in Luang Prabang and transfer to the Hotel. After check-in at the Hotel, you will be taken on a city tour. Highlights include the Former Royal Palace (now the National Museum), Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Sen and Wat Visun. Afternoon take a half-hour drive to Khuang Si Falls, where the waters tumble over multi-tiered limestone formations into a series of turquoise pools. Return to town with a stop at Ban Phanom village, renowned for its hand weaving. End the day with another dazzling sunset atop Mount Phou Si.

Day 3

Luang Prabang-Pak Ou Caves (B)

Take a full-day boat trip on the mighty Mekong River to explore local villages at Ban Xiengmene and Ban Chan. Continue with the royal temple at Wat Longkhoun, which once belonged to the royal family and nearby Sackarine Caves and continue cruising Pak Ou cave. Explore caves and cross Mekong River at Ban Ou for lunch at a local restaurant (on direct payment).

Return by road to Luang Prabang, stopping en route at Ban Xang Hai, where the residents create a unique rice wine called Lao Lao and continue to typical Lao villages at Ban Xangkhong and Ban Xienglek, well known for its handmade Jute Sar paper.

Day 4

Luang Prabang (B)

You may wish to wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings by the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice.

After breakfast visit Luang Prabang Market and a number of shops selling antiques and silver jewellery made by mountain tribes before your transfer to airport for your departure flight of services.
